Q. What kind of family photographer are you?
Q. What will my session be like?
A. My goal in our time together is to produce images that depict and represent a bond and emotion that speaks louder than the beauty that already appears on the surface. As natural as I want this to be, this absolutely requires some posing so you can expect me to direct you into some places to start. You are not expected to hold a smile or freeze your body so I can click the shutter. These poses are just a starting point for you to ease into being yourselves. Nothing is set so let’s allow for things to get loose and natural. A lot of times I’ll encourage everyone to try and forget the camera and key in on one another. Because family is the most important thing, right? The center of your world. And it’s that enormous feeling I’m trying to capture and convey. Expect a lot of closeness and hugging one another— and a fair amount of play.
Q. Where will my session be held?
A. When it comes to photographing kids and families, I choose either a natural outdoor setting or go to the family home. These are environments that create the most relaxed vibe. I want you to forget about your surroundings and quickly get comfortable so you can easily focus on one another. These places tend to create the most relaxed vibe. Have an idea for something different? Let me hear it!
Q. What should I wear?
A. Please dress comfortably. I like to have my families move around and play and even sit on the ground so leave the pencil skirts and form fitting suits for the formal events. For kids, this is especially important. Stay away from any clothing that has any large logos or words since that will detract from the overall composition.
